Research Paper Construction and Rubric
o Students will complete one research paper. The paper will be assigned as independent study. It will consist of the following:
o Entire document will be constructed using the MLA format
o Minimum of 6 full pages of research (not including title page or works cited page).
o A “works cited” page (must contain a minimum of 8 references)
§ The in-text references (8 minimum) must be present and cited in “works cited” page (MLA format)
o 1-inch margins all around
o Times New Roman
§ Font size – no larger than 12
o Double-spaced
o No extra line-spacing between paragraphs
o The following must also be considered relevant:
Ø Distinguish between reliable and questionable Internet sources and apply responsible use of technology.
Ø Understand plagiarism and its consequences and identify ethical issues of research and documentation.
Ø Credit sources for both quoted and paraphrased ideas.
Ø Cite sources of information using a standard method of documentation, such as a style sheet from the Modern Language Association (MLA).
Ø Paper must be written in a 3rd person format
o Cannot contain the use of personal pronouns (except in direct quotations).

Topic:
With the increasing cost of oil changes, more and more people are opting to change their oil at home. I recently performed oil changes for my car, truck, and motorcycle. The place I used to recycle my oil to went out of business, and I had no idea who else recycled oil. I have an idea for a product and service that would make oil recycling easier. This could involve creating a kit with a spill-proof container, gloves, and instructions on how and where to dispose of the oil. Additionally, an accompanying app could provide users with information on recycling facility locations, any associated costs, and pickup services. Ecofriendly
